The only President that I know of that was a Commander of an artillery unit in the National Guard was Harry S. Truman, who was the Commander of 129th Field Artillery, Missouri Army National Guard, in 1918, During World War 1.
World war three has not been fought yet.
in many locations in the world
It wasn't just fought in Japan. It was also fought in Europe, Africa and other parts of Asia. Reason why World War 2 was fought in Japan was thought Japan was part of the Axis and they were fighting against the US.
The three countries that fought against America in World War II, Germany, Italy, and Japan were know as the axis powers. Adolf Hitler was the Chancellor to Germany and commander of the Third Reich. Benito Mussolini was the leader to the National Fascist Party in Italy. Hirohito was the emperor to Japan.
The National Guard was activated and transferred to the active Army during these wars. For those who could not serve in the military, states created unorganised militias (often called "State Guard Forces", "State Defence Forces", et. al) in order to have a force on-hand which could fulfill the state role the National Guard normally would fulfill if they hadn't been activated, as well as serve as a home-based force to prevent incursions into the US, spot U-boats and Zeppelins, etc.

British.
All of the axis forces
The National Guard's mission changed to include going to wars with the passing of the National Defense Act of 1916. This act authorized the federalization of the National Guard in times of war or national emergency, allowing them to be deployed overseas. Since then, the National Guard has served in various conflicts, including World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The home guard is a state militia that replaces the National Guard when off to war. During WW2, it protected armories, water reservoirs, and other areas deemed sensitive to possible sabatoge.
Yes, the National Guard is a deployable force, just like any other military branch. The US Army National Guard is the entire reserve force of Combat Arms units for the US Army (save for one infantry battalion assigned to the US Army Reserve), and these units have been called up regularly since 2001 for deployments around the world.
During World War I, several cavalry units from New York served, notably the 1st New York Cavalry, also known as the "Lincoln Cavalry," and the 10th New York Cavalry, which was part of the National Guard. The 1st New York Cavalry was involved in various campaigns and was later restructured into infantry units. Additionally, the 102nd Cavalry Regiment, which was formed from the New Jersey National Guard but included personnel from New York, also participated in the conflict. These units contributed to reconnaissance and support roles during the war.
It was during the Second World War when the share of total output devoted to national defense was at its peak in American history. World War 2 was fought from 1939 to 1945.
Perhaps you are thinking of World War 2. However, that war was not about 'saving the Jews'. The various countries that fought in the war did so to uphold their national interests (as they saw them) or because they were attacked.
World war three has not been fought yet.
