1. Economy--Should agrarian based with farming and land-related industry to finance the nation's economy (although later in his life he switched and recognized the importance of manufacturing and finance more)

2. Tariff--Being from the South, Jefferson was suspicious of tariffs since it protected the North and hurt the SOuth (through higher prices for imported goods)

3. The people--While Jefferson tended to trust the common folk more than Jefferson it is incorrect to assume that Jefferson felt the ordinary American was capable of governing themselves--he didn't. He was closer to Hamilton on this issue than many teachers are aware. jefferson was an elitist, just as Hamilton was, although he DID place more confidence on the common man than did Hamilton.
