Peddle pushers are a style of cropped trousers that typically end just below the knee, characterized by their fitted silhouette. They were popularized in the 1950s and 1960s, often associated with casual, youthful fashion. The name "peddle pushers" is believed to have originated from the idea that these pants were practical for women who rode bicycles, allowing for ease of movement. Today, they remain a versatile option in modern fashion.

For how long did Alfred Thayer Mahan go to the US Naval War College?

Mahan didn't attend the US Naval War College as a student, he was one of the original cadre there. Mahan was president of the Naval War college twice, 1886-89, then later 1892-93. Like most military theorists he was a better staff officer than he was a commander (field officer). Like Clausewitz before him, they both were clumsy in the field or at sea. Clausewitz had no knack to control men (called leadership in the army) and Mahan grounded his warship (a court-martial offense in the navy) and had a few collisions at sea (also court-martial offenses). The military (no matter what the nationality) is made up of TWO different classes of officers; Command and Staff. Prior to the 21st century, Commanders commanded men in the field, or at sea on warships; and staff officers did everything else (also known as paper pushers, pencil pushers, pencil jockeys, paper punchers, desk jockeys, flying a desk, REMF officers, Base Camp Commando Officers, etc. etc. etc.). But armies and navies cannot function without both types of officers...they are both mandatory (needed). The trick was, no man (officer) could be a genius at both! Men such as Clausewitz and Mahan were considered genius's of military theory...they were great staff officers. But horrible field officers (commanders). General George S. Patton Jr. who commanded the 3rd Army in WWII, was a great field commander and leader of men...but he was a terrible staff officer (being diplomatic is an integral part of being a staff officer). Ya can't have both.
