There are petroglyphs (rock art) in Utah and other parts of North America that compare directly with cave art in France and other parts of Europe. This should not be considered surprising, since pre-contact native Americans throughout the Americas were living essentially Neolithic lifestyles.

Rock art at McDonald Creek Canyon, Colorado may have been produced by the Ute or Paiute people and it is very similar to the cave paintings at Lascaux, France and to some Australian aboriginal work.
