In the 'old' tradition Ghana (which is where they are from), one is usually named after an ancestor and last names do not play a factor. One does not necessarily take his/her father's last name (unless he/she was named after him) thus making them all have different last names. I will say that in Ghana today some families use the 'last name' but others like to follow the old traditions.
