Basically, potential energy is stored energy that is waiting to be converted into kinetic energy by have a force applied to the object. When an object has potential energy, it is not moving. So, two examples are: A rock sitting atop a hill or a cheetah about to spring at it's prey. 1. A rock is displaying potential energy because it is not moving. 2. The cheetah is storing energy, meaning that is waiting for the right moment to attack. Stored energy as in meaning that it is not using the energy that it has.
Potential energy comes in two forms, spring potential energy, and gravitational potential energy. Spring potential energy comes from any elastic material that has the tendency to return to its original form, such as a bow string. An arrow drawn back on a bow would have potential energy because the bow string "wants" to return to its original state. Gravitational potential energy comes from being above the ground, such as a held Basketball. Because it has the tendency to fall towards Earth, raising it up increases its potential energy.

potential energy is when a object is in motion is stays in motion but when the object is in rest it stays at rest for in example A car parked at the top of a mount. is a example of potential energy

^^^ Kinetic energy is the energy of motion, for example any time something moves. Potential energy is stored, due to positioning, and is ready to be used. Let's say you're on the top of a hill. Due to your height, the energy you have is potential.

What are some non examples of elatic potential energy?

Some non-examples of elastic potential energy include gravitational potential energy, kinetic energy, and thermal energy. These types of energy are different from elastic potential energy as they are not associated with the deformation or stretching of an elastic material.

Does potential energy involve position?

There are several different varieties of potential energy, some of which involve position and some of which don't. Gravitational potential energy involves position. High objects have the potential to fall.

What are some kinds of potential energy?

Energy stored in a spring; gravitational potential energy; chemical energy; nuclear energy.

Name one of the types of energy?

Here are some types:* Potential energy * Kinetic energy * Chemical energy * Gravitational potential energy * Magnetic potential energy * Elastic energy * Nuclear energy

What are some different forms of potential energy?

Some different forms of potential energy include gravitational potential energy (associated with an object's height above the ground), elastic potential energy (stored in stretched or compressed objects like springs), chemical potential energy (stored in chemical bonds), and electrical potential energy (associated with charged particles in an electric field).

What are all kinds of potential energy?

Some types of potential energy include gravitational potential energy (related to an object's position in a gravitational field), elastic potential energy (stored in compressed or stretched objects), and chemical potential energy (stored in chemical bonds). Other examples include nuclear potential energy and electrical potential energy.

What is some examples of potential energy that you can see in your own home?

Some examples of potential energy in your home are a charged battery (electrical potential energy), a stretched rubber band (elastic potential energy), and an object lifted off the ground (gravitational potential energy).

What are the different kind of potential energy?

Some types of potential energy include gravitational potential energy (related to an object's height and mass), elastic potential energy (stored in stretched or compressed objects), chemical potential energy (stored in chemical bonds), and nuclear potential energy (stored within atomic nuclei).

What are some forms of chemical energy?

electrical energy, thermal energy, and potential energy

What are some research questions for kinetic and potential energy?

How does the height of an object affect its potential energy? What factors influence the conversion of potential energy to kinetic energy in a system? How does the speed of an object impact its kinetic energy?

What is the potential energy stored in chemical compounds?

The potential energy stored in chemical compounds is typically in the form of chemical bonds. When these bonds are broken during a chemical reaction, energy is released. The amount of energy stored in a compound depends on the types of atoms involved and the strength of the bonds between them.
