To a large extent, the extensive speculation in the stock markets in the "Roaring 20's" led to a disaster that made any other unfortunate events events in the US to seem small by comparison. In 1929, on a day now called "Black Tuesday" the wild stock markets speculation came to a sudden crash. Billions of dollars were lost in a single day on the New York Stock Exchange. This led to the worst financial disaster the US ever faced, namely the Great Depression.
