St. Anthony of Padua is one of the universal saints of the Roman Catholic Church. He has been quoted as saying: "Solicitude for material things distracts the soul and divides it. The devil seizes the divided soul and drags it to hell."
Some time after he died, a book belonging to Anthony, a relic, disappeared. After prayers were said for its return it showed up, having been "borrowed" by a seminarian. The seminarian had dreamed about Anthony and was told in the dream to return the book.

Some popular Catholic saints that can be chosen as confirmation names include Saint Francis of Assisi, Saint Teresa of Calcutta (Mother Teresa), Saint Anthony of Padua, Saint Therese of Lisieux (the Little Flower), and Saint Patrick.
Ive been to Saint Luke's grave in Padua Italy, its not far from Saint Anthony's grave, it's in a Basilica called Saint Giustina. But I've heard from some that his grave is in Constantinople alongside Andrew and Timothy's grave.
There are a number of saints that belonged to mendicant orders - those that rely entirely on charity to exist. Some of the better known names are St. Francis of Assisi, St. Dominic de Guzman and St. Anthony of Padua.
One miracle is that of a horse which refused to eat for three days until he had knelt down and adored the Eucharist, which St. Anthony held in his hands. It is said this miracle took place at Toulouse, at Wadding, at Bruges. Another important miracle is that of the poisoned food offered him by some Italian heretics, which he rendered iharmless by the sign of the cross. Another worthy of mention is that of the famous sermon to the fishes on the bank of the river Brenta near the town of Padua.
There are a number of saints named Anthony so please be more specific. However, all of them exhibited some form of heroic virtue.
Some saints that are commonly prayed to for guidance and protection include Saint Michael the Archangel, Saint Jude, Saint Anthony, and Saint Christopher.
Saint Michael never lived. He is an archangel, meaning that he lives in Heaven and kicks Satan out if he ever gets close.
Anthony should be the patron of those who find their lives completely uprooted and sent in a new and unexpected direction. Like all saints, he is a perfect example of turning one's life completely over to Christ. God did with Anthony as he pleased - and what he pleased was a life of spiritual power and brilliance that still attracts admiration today. He whom popular devotion has nominated as finder of lost objects found himself by losing himself totally to the providence of God.
Saint Anthony was canonized (declared a saint) less than one year after his death. There is perhaps no more loved and admired saint in the Catholic Church than Saint Anthony of Padua, a Doctor of the Church. Though his work was in Italy, he was born in Portugal. He first joined the Augustinian Order and then left it and joined the Franciscan Order in 1221, when he was 26 years old. The reason he became a Franciscan was because of the death of the five Franciscan protomartyrs -- St. Bernard, St. Peter, St. Otho, St. Accursius, and St. Adjutus -- who shed their blood for the Catholic Faith in the year 1220, in Morocco, in North Africa, and whose headless and mutilated bodies had been brought to St. Anthony’s monastery on their way back for burial. St. Anthony became a Franciscan in the hope of shedding his own blood and becoming a martyr. He lived only ten years after joining the Franciscan Order. So simple and resounding was his teaching of the Catholic Faith, so that the most unlettered and innocent might understand it, that he was made a Doctor of the Church by Pope Pius XII in 1946. Saint Anthony was only 36 years old when he died. He is called the “hammer of the Heretics” His great protection against their lies and deceits in the matter of Christian doctrine was to utter, simply and innocently, the Holy Name of Mary. When St. Anthony of Padua found he was preaching the true Gospel of the Catholic Church to heretics who would not listen to him, he then went out and preached it to the fishes. This was not, as liberals and naturalists are trying to say, for the instruction of the fishes, but rather for the glory of God, the delight of the angels, and the easing of his own heart. St. Anthony wanted to profess the Catholic Faith with his mind and his heart, at every moment. He is typically depicted with a book and the Infant Child Jesus, to whom He miraculously appeared, and is commonly referred to today as the "finder of lost articles." Upon exhumation, some 336 years after his death, his body was found to be corrupted, yet his tongue was totally incorrupt, so perfect were the teachings that had been formed upon it.
Some paintings are The last Judgement, The Torment of Saint Anthony, and The Entombment.
