What are some similarits's of Jefferson Davis and Abraham Lincoln?

That's nuts. Davis favored slavery and Lincoln opposed states rights. They only thing they had in common was being born in Kentucky.

Davis was a landowner in Mississippi, who believed in 'Noblesse Oblige' and treated his slaves so well that they didn't want their freedom. He was naive enough to think that all slave-owners were equally benevolent - a rash assumption, especially that far 'down the river'. As he had a respectable record as a Colonel in the Mexican War, it was felt that he could embody the soul and spirit of the Confederates, but he proved to be way out of his depth. Among other things, he didn't like public speaking, a drawback for a politician.

Lincoln was from the other end of society, a manual labourer with a commanding physical presence, who acted as an unofficial policeman in small towns in Illinois. One of the other young men in his boarding-house was a law student who told him he had the makings of a fine lawyer, and urged him to study law. In the 1860 election, he was selected for the Republican ticket because he was moderate on slavery, and won the Presidency, only to find himself embroiled in a Civil War. He then showed himself to be far more talented than anyone had guessed, keeping a troublesome cabinet together, and eventually learning to choose and use good Generals. His success in keeping Britain out of the war by issuing the Emancipation Proclamation was an example of his brilliant tactical skill.
