RAM stands for Random Access Memory and today it's mainly spread in form of semiconductors and used in computers and other electronica ldevices for randomly data accessing. Random because you can access anything in RAM in same time as other thing with no dependencies at all. They are volatile because they are easily and often changed and the content is lost after the power is turned off. ROM stands for Read Only Memory and its used for device firmware chips to store data in order they can be protected from modification.

What do the computer words Ram and Rom stand for?

"RANDOM ACCESS MEMORYData is loaded into RAM from long-term storage (ie- the hard-disk drive) for execution/processing by the CPU. Having too little RAM can lead to performance problems as data is paged back to the hard drive in order to make space for data that is being loaded into RAM.""ROM = Read Only Memory. Though a CD-R can be written to, generally, it's only once. Then the CD can only be read and being a form of memory, can be called ROM or CDROM when applied to a CD. All music CDs are basically ROM. Even an LP record could be considered a form of ROM as its content cannot be changed. But in general, ROM refers to electronic devices"

What are examples of RAM?

Some examples of Random Access Memory (RAM) include: DDR4: A type of RAM commonly used in desktop computers and high-performance laptops. SDRAM: Synchronous Dynamic RAM, a type of RAM used in older computer systems. LPDDR4: Low-Power DDR4, a type of RAM commonly used in mobile devices like smartphones and tablets. SRAM: Static RAM, faster and more expensive than dynamic RAM, often used in cache memory and embedded systems. DDR3: Another type of RAM commonly used in older desktop computers and laptops.
