The Allies won in 1918, and the Treaty of Versailles was signed in 1919. (Note that Russia - originally an ally in WW1 - was defeated by Germany in 1917 and had to sign a humiliating peace treaty in March 1918 at Brest-Litovsk).

The battles of the Marne, Verdun, Somme, Allied victories were hard pressed to be called victories until later in the war close to the end most battles were stalemates with only a few miles going one way or the other at the cost of hundreds of thousands of lives.
