After the battle of King's mountain, the loyalists surrendered and the patriots claimed victory. The loyalist casualties were 290 killed, 163 wounded, and 668 captured. The patriot casualties were 29 killed and 58 wounded. The patriots were able to utilize guerrilla tactics by attacking by surprise, feigning retreats from costly hand to hand combat, and using cover and concealment within the environment while sniping loyalists who were poorly protected by their incomplete barricades. With such guerrilla tactics and warfare, the patriot conflicted way more casualties on the loyalists and were able to claim victory.
