Augustus contributed so many positives during his long reign that its almost impossible to list them all, but here are some: the rebuilding of the city of Rome and its infrastructure, a new aqueduct for Rome, new roads in Gaul, city divided into wards for more efficient administration, reforming the army, first police/fire force, first government mail service, and senatorial appointments on ability rather than family or wealth. But the most important contribution that Augustus may have made was the sense of pride in their capital city that he imparted to the Romans.

Augustus contributed to the building of Rome in many, many ways. He added territory to the empire for starters. He rebuilt the infrastructure of the city--sewers, aqueducts, fountains, etc. He refaced the public buildings plus added new structures. He made Rome a city people could be proud of. He could very well boast "I found Rome a city of brick and left it a city of marble".
