They brought with them mostly Bacon, potatoes, rice, beans, and biscuits. They brought some crackers usually, and drank water. Along the way they had beef jerky, eggs, milk, and many other dairies that can be produced with just a supply of milk, flour, yeast, and water. When they ran out of biscuits, they fried bread, because they had no room for conventional ovens.
