oh i just learned about this is in history a few days ago! Diaz sailed to the tip of South Africa and back. He proved that yes there was a way around Africa without falling of the edge of the world.

It took him 15 tries to get past cape of good hope ( i think it was that cape sorry if not)

it took him a year and four months and he was lost at sea for 13 days. It took him so long because he stuck to the coast.
