He didn't actually *write* any of it. The development of the rules and governmental structure specified in the constitution was the work of the convention as a whole and then the final wording was turned over to a committee of style. Franklin's most significant contribution was the Great Compromise. There was a significant divide between the more populous states who wanted representation in congress to be based on population and the smaller states who wanted equal representation. The disagreement seemed insoluble and the convention was in danger of breking up over the issue. Franklin proposed that the House of Representatives have proportional representation and the Senate have equal representation. this compromise was excepted and the rest, as they say, is history.
