Leon Trotsky accused Stalin of betraying the principles of the Bolshevik Revolution and establishing a bureaucratic regime that prioritized personal power over Marxist ideals. He criticized Stalin's rise to power as a departure from the revolutionary spirit, arguing that Stalin's policies led to the oppression of dissent and the consolidation of a totalitarian state. Trotsky also condemned Stalin's emphasis on "socialism in one country," contrasting it with his vision of international revolution. Ultimately, Trotsky saw Stalin as a threat to the future of communism and the working class.
