He didn't finish his ride. This is a common misconception. Paul Revere was actually stopped by a British patrol on his way to Concord. He had two fellow riders, William Dawes and Dr. Samuel Prescott. Out of the three, only Dr. Samuel Prescott made it to Concord to warn everyone that the British were indeed coming.
