Thomas Jefferson mainly studied law, language and philosophy throughout his life. He attended the College of William and Mary in during his youth, also established the University of Virginia later in life and revising curriculum for the College of William and Mary.

He studied in-depth works of enlightenment thinkers, notably Sir Isaac newton and Sir Francis Bacon. This formed a lot of what he adopted as his own philosophy and outlook on life and issues. He was also greatly inspired by European culture, namely France in his time as ambassador. He also took heavy inspiration from Roman and Greek law and architecture as can be seen influenced in his works of architecture commissioned by colleagues in the US during its early years and his writing in the Declaration of Independence, multiple bills and articles as well as notes, letters, and other writings which had great affect on the formation of the country.
