Emperor. The pope was going to crown him, but Napoleon took the crown away and crowned himself Emperor.
After Hindenburg died in 1934, Hitler became the Head of the State. He gave himself the title of Führer und Reichskanzler which means leader and chancellor of the Reich.
'Il Duce' is Italian for 'the chief' or 'the leader.' Mussolini gave himself this title as the leader of Fascist Italy.
Hitler referred to himself as "Führer," which means "leader" in German. This title signified his absolute authority over Germany and the Nazi Party. He combined the roles of Chancellor and President, consolidating power and promoting his totalitarian regime under this designation. The term became synonymous with his dictatorial rule and the ideologies he propagated.

If Robert had not sacrifice himself then the title of the would not make sense. The woman went to the colony in Vermont and told them his legend. Therefore if he did not sacrifice himself, the movie title would need to be changed.

He gave it to himself. He may have been inspired by Mussolini's title of Duce, which also means leader.

Octavian accepted the title Augustus that could mean majestic one, or exalted one, or revered one. It was a new, unique title the senate gave him and could be translated in different honorable ways.
