Many Americans believed that the mission of their nation was to spread democracy and promote freedom, often encapsulated in the idea of "Manifest Destiny." This belief held that the United States was destined to expand across the continent, bringing its values and institutions to new territories. Additionally, many viewed the nation as a beacon of hope and a model for other countries, emphasizing individual rights and opportunities. This conviction often justified expansionist policies and interventions in other nations' affairs.

Many Americans viewed Manifest Destiny as a divine right and a moral obligation to expand the nation across the North American continent. This belief was fueled by a sense of American exceptionalism, suggesting that the U.S. had a unique mission to spread democracy and civilization. Additionally, economic opportunities and the desire for land drove the perception that expansion was not only justified but necessary for the nation's growth and prosperity. Ultimately, Manifest Destiny became intertwined with national identity and purpose during the 19th century.

I've read that Americans are among the most religious people in the world. Usually religious people believe in God(s)--if you believe in one God, you are monotheistic (example Judaism). If you believe in many gods, you are polytheistic (example neo-Pagans). Simply because America is a multi-coultured nation where people from different nations are found and that's why we find most Americans polytheistic or monotheistic because they bond with the people around them.
