As they said in the Old West: Time for you to get out of Dodge. Not really, it was more like a corporate takeover where the management was kicked out but the labor was kept in place. Dutch settlers were invited to remain in place and on the job with a guarantee that they were free to practice their own religion without interference. The farmers, lumbermen, masons, carpenters, drovers, brickmakers and smiths all cut their own (and a much better) deal with their new proprietors and stayed on the job.

Their Dutch religious leaders took an oath to not seek converts among the English settlers and stayed to care for their flock.

Even the new English settlers were given more favorable servitude contracts and larger grants of land. It was a win/win for everyone but the top Dutch Management Team and believe it or not the deal worked. New Netherlands was gone and England's New York was a better place for it. The New World melting pot concept was put into action.
