What did the ancient egyptians use locks for?

My guess and opinion is that the ancient Egyptian lock was invented to help guard tombs or other important buildings. this would not include houses as the locks were up to 2 ft long (61cm) and would be impractical.

Well, most of the time they just used them to lock up their children at night when they were doing "parent stuff ". But sometimes they used them to lock up their pets if they messed on the floor. Sometimes they locked boxes of jewlery to keep the wild cats from taking them and playing with them because there were soo many cats that they started to worship them and the cats got all cocky and thought they could do anything.

They needed locks and keys to lock sertain Items which are rare or precious to them, Like gold or treasure Or some pottery, They also locked rooms Which contain Rare objects Or a normal home so no one could get in,
