Before becoming free settlers, many individuals lived in various circumstances, often constrained by social, economic, or political factors. They may have faced limited opportunities in their home countries, such as poverty, unemployment, or persecution. Typically, these individuals were drawn to the promise of a better life and the chance for land ownership and independence in a new environment. Their appearances and lifestyles would have reflected their diverse backgrounds, shaped by their unique cultures and experiences.

The Romans never lived in Manchester, although they lived where Manchester now is. The Celts, who were wide rangingsettlers, like the later Roman settlers, occupied the area, displacing those ancient Britons who previously lived there. "Ancient Britons" covers unknown settlers of unknown origin.
Some of them were coming over to find religious freedom, like the Quakers, while others sought economic opportunities in the New World.
(They came to America to escape worldly temptations like wealth.)
I would think that if the settlers never came, the Native Americans would still have all the land, and freedom.. no government to rule over us and there wouldn't be any kind of global warming due to the factories and other pollution to pollute the environment. If You get down to it, we Natives made the land when we first settled the grounds....
Happy
to start a new lifestyle since they didn't like England controlling them
Not all European settlers were persecuted and there are many reasons why people go to places. Those who were persecuted were people like the Quakers who were arrested and jailed by the English government. Others came as indentured servants to pay for their passage. Even today there are indentured servants. So, the reasons vary.

New England colonies: Settlers came to the New England colonies for religious freedom and to establish communities based on Puritan beliefs. Middle colonies: Settlers came to the middle colonies for economic opportunities such as farming, trade, and industry, as well as religious freedom. Southern colonies: Settlers came to the southern colonies primarily for economic reasons, including agricultural opportunities like tobacco and rice farming, as well as the prospect of owning land and becoming wealthy.
I'm assuming you mean the white settlers in America during the period before the United States became a country. These people where worried about things like The Native people- were they friendly or dangerous Food and winter- would they be able to have enough food and enough shelter to survive the winter God- most settlers that came to the new world by choice were religious so they wanted to know God's will
