What I personally think will happen in the world scene in the next few years is that the economy of the world will get slightly better. More social issues, such as gay marriage, will become more acceptable in places like the US. We may, unfortunately, see more terrorist attacks as tensions are still high in the world.

And besides, there is a saying that goes "the third time is a charm", and if that is true, then 2000 (a.k.a. y2k) was the first prediction, then 2006 was the second prediction, and the THIRD prediction was 2012.
