Several possibilites exist. There are stories that various days had been chosen as possible invasion dates, and were code-named A-Day, B-Day, C-Day etc. but this is untrue. There was only ever D-Day and it moved backwards and forwards as circumstnaces changed, and eventually June 6th was settled on.
