Blind Alleys were the name of a type of trench during world war one. They were hidden within the maze of different trenches and were very useful. They were simply a trench with a dead end, they went no-where and the enemy would have no place to go other than back. They would usually be caught than and killed by the opposing force.
The false trenches were nicknamed 'blind alleys' and their purpose was to confuse and slow down enemy forces. During WW1, trench warfare was particularly prominent on the Western Front.

World War II is given the designation to differentiate it from World War I. The first war, also called the Great War, was 1914 to 1918, and the second was from 1938 to 1945.
No. it was not the first war in the world, there were hundreds before. It was, however, the second war after world war 1 that at the end encompassed the greater part of the world including Europe, Asia/Pacific, Africa, Australia. World War II doesn't mean second war in the world but rather "World Wide War" Karl
