Père Lachaise is the name of a well-known cemetery in Paris which is named after a Jesuit priest François d'Aix de la Chaise. He was the confessor of King Louis XIV and as such was in a position to influence the King in matters of religion. He lived from 1624 to 1709. Père means father and here it is used as a term of address for a priest.
