Stop Loss occurs, usually during wartime, when military personnel are extended beyond the end of their service contract expiration date. For instance, a highly critical skilled soldier may be due to leave the service on 18 April, 2008. Because his skills are needed and he cannot be easily replaced, that service could 'extend' his contract to a later date without the member's consent. That, in effect would stop his loss from the military - i.e., stop loss.

you're on your way home after you have finished serving in the military, and then the military forces you back into active duty.

you have completed all obligations from service and have been honorable discharged from duty, but then the bastards tell you you cant leave.

Medical Stop Loss is a product purchased by employers that self-insure their medical plans. Under a self-funded health plan, the primary insurer is the employer and the stop loss carrier can be thought of as a reinsurer. There are two kinds of medical stop loss coverage, specific stop loss and aggregate stop loss. Specific stop loss protects the plan against large claims on individuals and aggregate stop loss protects the plan from having overall high paid claims.

I assume you mean double thickness? It would be a lined curtain or drape. Some are lined with fabric, some are lined with an insulated material. Either one would help stop heat loss when closed.
