we learn that the Mesopotamian people were very hardworking. they were the first to set up a civilization. so we must owe a lot to the Mesopotamian civilization.

Every culture tells stories. That why we have history today
7 were used for the Epic of Gilgamesh :-)
This is in the Epic of Gilgamesh which has a flood story that is similar to the Noahic Flood in Genesis. Utnapishtim apparently overheard the gods discussing making the flood on man. Utnapishtim advises Gilgamesh.
He was not. In the Epic of Gilgamesh; Enkidu is a wild man raised by animals and ignorant of human society. It does not tell who his mother or father is. The epic states that Enkidu was created to humble Gilgamesh who was a very proud ruler.
In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Siduri advises Gilgamesh to find pleasure in everyday activities like wearing clean clothes, bathing, and enjoying food and drink. She encourages him to appreciate life's simple pleasures rather than seeking immortality.
Gilgamesh, in his search for immortality, sought and found Utnapishtim, whom they call the Faraway. Utnapishtim said he would tell Gilgamesh a hidden matter, a secret of the gods. Utnapishtim then proceeded to tell Gilgamesh about the flood.
One example of a long Sumerian poem that tells the story of a hero is the "Epic of Gilgamesh." This ancient Mesopotamian tale follows the adventures and exploits of the legendary king Gilgamesh as he embarks on a quest for immortality. It is considered one of the earliest known works of literature.

If someone tells you that rap has roots in African American experiences, but epic poetry is based on Greek and Roman cultures, they are really ignorant and very wrong. Epic poetry is found in all cultures, going back to the Epic of Gilgamesh in ancient Mesapotamia. Beowulf is an Old English epic. African Africans have lots of oral epics such as Lianja. Rap is not epic poetry because it does not tell a story of a supernaturally great hero. The only reason that there are no African American epics is that nobody has got around to writing one yet.
The most excellent literary work from ancient Mesopotamia is the Epic of Gilgamesh. Originally recited aloud, this towering work was probably recorded on clay tablets around 2000 B.C., more than one thousand years before the Iliad and the Odyssey were recorded in writing. Gilgamesh is a long narrative poem that describes the deeds of a hero in his hunt for identity and the meaning of life. Part man and part god, Gilgamesh deals with such universal themes as the meaning of friendship; fear of sickness, death, and the forces of evil; and the search for immortality.

Belief in the afterlife; "dust is their food and clay is their meat."Polythestic (belief in several Gods); Anu, Enlil, Kish, etc...Sacrifice; "how can I be silent how can I rest, when Enkidu whom I love is dust, and I too shall die...."Gods have control over natural disasters; flood:)
Scientists tell us conclusively that there never was a great Flood as described in the Bible. And they tell us that the Flood as described would be physically impossible. Scholars tell us that the biblical story of Noah and his Ark is very similar to the flood story in the much older Epic of Gilgamesh. For these and many other reasons, we can say with certainty that Noah was not a real person.
