After the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, there was a great deal of hard feelings against the Japanese and Japanese Americans. By executive orders, Japanese Americans were herded into Internment Camps for the duration of the war, even though many of them volunteered for front-line duty and served with distinction. As a consequence, many non-Japanese Asians were also the object of hostility, suspicion, and prejudice.
