What facts are included about king tutankhamun's death?

King Tutankhamen is well known today because his was the first tomb found intact. However, he was not popular in ancient Egypt, and died when he was only nineteen years old. He was buried with at least two of his children.

Tut had a fracture to his knee, which could have occured atmost a few days before his death. Many believe that an infection set in and killed him. More recent studies have shown that Tut also had malaria, so this would have contributed to his death.

The original theory was that he was murded by a blow to the head as he had a "blood clot" and "fracture" on his head. This blood clot was later found to be resin from the burial process and the fracture is just that his skull hadn't fused together yet. This is quite common for teens, and Tut was only 18.

Tutankhamun's mummy has been thoroughly examined with increasingly better scientific equipment as the years have progressed. Based on CT scans, DNA tests and informed conjecture (images of the the Boy King on his funerary objects) it has been proposed that Tut died because of a leg injury (septic), frail bones (multiple canes in his tomb and pictographs of him using them), and malaria. The law requiring a new Pharaoh to wed a Pharaoh's daughter before he could claim the throne caused inbreeding within the Royal Family. This unfortunate situation was probably the cause of the multiple genetic issues Tut had to contend with; a cleft palate and a club foot being 2 of them. Any displays of Tutankhamun sporting or hunting in his chariot were most likely wishful thinking, an attempt to convince his subjects they had a 'Strong, Warrior' King to protect them.
