meetings were held in the new england colonies because its a short distance to walk to go to town gatherings,to discuss democratic ideas.On the other hand in the middle colonies large farms meant distances between homes and towns so meetings were kept once in a blue moon.(every now and then).

They were self-government , they had meetings on issues if their was any.
The southern colonies did have their own government. They had meetings when they wanted to talk about issues, interests, or laws.
