The United States acquired the Philippines as a result of the Spanish-American War.
It would be difficult to link industrialization to Imperialism. Imperialism existed in the world long before the term was created in the 19th century. Industrialization was the result of a number of creative inventors over a long period of time to provide a better way to produce products that previously were handcrafted.
As a result of the Spanish-American War, the US stripped Spain of its last possessions in Latin America, as well as in the Pacific. This left the US in the unique position of being the only imperial power in the Western Hemisphere, though it had already been claiming dozens of Pacific islands throughout the 19th century, including Hawaii.
Hawaii was annexed without treaty as a result of the Newlands Resolution which was a joint resolution of the US Congress and was signed into law by President William McKinley on 7 July 1898. On 12 August 1898 the flag of the Republic of Hawaii was lowered at Iolani Palace and the US Flag was raised in its place.

In the early 1900s, the United States imperialized several countries, notably the Philippines, which it acquired after the Spanish-American War in 1898. Other examples include Puerto Rico, also gained from Spain, and Guam, which became a U.S. territory as a result of the same conflict. Additionally, Hawaii was annexed in 1898, reflecting America's expansionist ambitions in the Pacific. These actions were part of a broader trend of U.S. imperialism during this era.
Land ownership was taken over mainly by the businesses.
