The industrial revolution was a major cultural shift that marked the advancing development of technology, economy and society. It started in 1733 with the introduction of the cotton mill. People started to expand their thoughts and ideas in hope for a greater technological development. The industrial revolution only got greater with the creation of the assembly line. Before the assembly line was introduced, employers were forced to hire skilled labour workers at expensive wages, but, with the help of the assembly line, employers could make profit using the labour of unskilled, low wage workers. This can be seen both a positive and negative impact on society. The industrial revolution helped bring work to the poor and help grasp the idea of mass production, but it also weakened the quality of the workforce. This revolution brought major changes to society as a whole and really helped progress our culture to the way it is today.
