After Alexander's death in 323 B.C.E, his generals (Diadochi) fought for power and divided Alexander's Empire into three kingdoms. These three kingdoms lasted for hundreds of years but eventually collapsed either by Roman conquest (Ptolemaic), the sheer unmanageable size and diversity of peoples (Seleucid) or in fighting (Indo-Greek).
