Many of out native Flowering Dogwood trees have developed Anthracnose, which is a fungus. However, there are hybrids available, which are a cross between the native Dogwood and the Japanese Kousa Dogwood. Many have shown good disease resistance. They bloom later than the Flowering Dogwood tree and earlier than the Kousa.
