The Jewish community has been a part of Georgia history since its founding in 1733 so the impact of the Holocaust on Georgians during WWII was minimal.
The Holocaust was an action of Christians against Jews. Though it has to be said that they did not kill because they thought it their Christian duty. They did spread accusations like 'Jews killed Christ', they even came up with an explanation of how Christ was not a Jew.

Thus, Jews were immediately deprived of all the legal rights that they would otherwise have had as human beings or as German citizens (or citizens of other European nations). Jews became the legal equivalent of vermin, such as rats (to which they were compared by the Nazis). This was the necessary preparation for the Holocaust.

The fate of displaced persons and Holocaust survivors was a major issue, one which eventually led to the establishment of Israel by Jewish survivors. We opened a memorial museum for that tragic event
