realism deals with the everyday troubles and consequences faced by the average man. Its initial purpose is to relay a moral to the reader, or in other words teach that by doing something there will always be a consequence, either good or bad. i would research mark twain's novels, since he's known for his realist novels, and derive evidence for the purpose of realism. Check out some other books to, you'll see this concept within every one of them as well
