What is imhotep importance in the history of art?

Imhotep is credited as being the master architect responsible for building Pharaoh Djoser's "Step Pyramid" complex at Saggara, and is suspected of also building Sekhemkhet's unfinished pyramid as well. The Step Pyramid is still considered today to be one of the architectural wonders of ancient Egypt.

Imhotep is the Egyptian polymath, who served under the Third Dynasty king, Djoser, as chancellor to the pharaoh and high priest of the sun god Ra at Heliopolis

He used a lot of ancient architecture in his tomb, and that's why we still know about much of the ancient egyptian artworks.
