Super Powers
In WWI, the USA was part of the Allied Powers, and the Central Powers were a coalition of Germany, Austria-Hungary, and the Ottoman. In the battle betwen the United States and the Central Powers, the United States along with the rest of the Allied Powers won.
Tennessee and Misouri both share borders with eight states.
There are 32 U.S. states each of which shares a border with at least one other U.S. state AND does not share a border with any Mexican state or Canadian province. Of those 32, there are 18 U.S. states that do not border international waters either (i.e., do not border the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, or the Gulf of México).
The powers that are reserved for the people and/or the states, are called "Reserved Powers."
Reserves
In the US and under the US Constitution, states have all the powers not granted to the Federal government. The US states have many powers and authority over many issues as long as the states do not violate the US Constitution.

Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution of the United States lists eighteen "enumerated powers" of the Congress. The 9th and 10th Amendments, as part of the Bill of Rights, specifically limit the Congress from taking actions that are not explicitly authorized, stating that powers not listed are reserved to the People or to the States.
State governments have powers in areas such as education, public health, transportation, and intrastate commerce. They also have the authority to regulate land use, conduct state elections, and establish local governments. These powers are outlined in the Tenth Amendment to the US Constitution, which reserves all powers not specifically granted to the federal government to the states.
