The bodies of pharaohs and other ancient egyptians that could afford to be mummified. And the bodies were wrapped in linen with leaves, and sawdust inside the body to replace the internal organs.

Another Answer: A mummy is a human being who had his internal organs removed, his flesh rubbed down with preservatives and wrapped up with cloth, and was placed in a sarcophagus (a type of coffin). This was done to keep the body from rotting. Though eventually they rotted pretty good anyway.
