Ancient Egyptians pressed papyrus reeds together to make a flat sheet called "papyrus" as well. This sheet was thicker than modern paper, off-yellow in color, and not of a uniform nature.

Of course, modern Egyptians use all of the same types of paper (Xerox, loose-leaf, packing, computer, etc.) that are used in Western countries.
