What is the difference between a POW camp and a Concentration camp?

A death camp is a place where you just flat out try to kill someone and a concentration camp is when they put you to worrk but they don't kill as directly.

A Death Camp is a place where individuals are collectively sent to be killed, as soon as possible after arrival. A Concentration Camp is a place where individuals are kept and utilized in any way possible. They are given slave-like working conditions, and the food/water supply is limited; ill-treament is standard.

A prison camp implies a criminal element. A prisoner of war camp has a special status and meaning, POW's were to be treated not as criminals (except in Civil Wars) but as men of honor. Treat them badly and your enemy might reciprocate and that was not something any commander wants: its bad for morale, makes recruiting difficult and even mercenaries need some form of protection. In modern times it has even been codified in the Geneva Convention. A concentration camp dealt with non criminal civilians, and really hadn't existed until the Boer War. International rules had not been placed into position to safegaurd that group.

A Prisoner of War camp was a place that captured soldiers from the other side were kept. A concentration camp was where civilians that were considered dangerous or undesirable were kept to isolate them from the rest of the population. POW camps were inspected by the Red Cross and the rules were set by the Geneva Convention. Concentration camps had no rules on the treatment of the people there and millions were killed in them.
