The ancient Romans were not really very environment-conscious. On the other hand, population numbers being what they were back then, the impact of humans on the environment was very limited compared to what it is now. Apart from a few big cities like Rome - where the river Tiber was more or less used as an open sewer and where living conditions for most city dwellers were squalid by our standards - people and nature lived pretty peacefully together.

ROME ENVIRONMENT ON I MENTAL MENT MEN
The natural environmental is pretty much the same as it is now: the Mediterranean environment of central Italy. The urban environment was smaller. Now Rome is three times as big as it was at the height of the empire.

There was a loss of good farmland from erosion of the top soil. Also, to fuel the many fires in dwellings and other places, deforestation had a big impact on the Romans. Although this has less to do with the environment their pipes were made of lead which over many years slowly poisoned the people of Rome.
Some H.E.I. samples from Italy are… 1) They are surrounded by the Mediterranean and Red Seas so they rely on many different types of sea food 2) There are volcanoes in Italy as well so it has fertilized land so humans can grow plants and food

Be a Roman When you are in Rome. Be a follower or let people follow you, any norms against existing environment will be considered as psychic.
Rome was in a hilly area between the chain of the Apennine Mountains which run through the Italian peninsula and the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Originally Rome was on the Seven Hills of Rome (the Palatine, Capitoline, Caelian, Esquiline, Viminal Quirinal and Aventine). Later Rome expanded beyond the seven hills and included other hills as well. Rome was on the only ford on the river Tiber. which run in a east-west direction from the mountains to the coast. This made Rome the main north-south communication point in the region. When Rome became involved in sea trade, the Tiber also offered a navigable route to the coast, which was sixteen miles to the west. Rome was on in a volcanic soil area which provided good fertility for agriculture.
