SALT: miracle / wonder substanceIf the question should have rightly been asked, "prized" as opposed to "priced", most probably the answer would have been SALT.... and, just as in ancient days, SALT is still one of the most valued commodities throughout all the nations..... rightly applied the SALT treaties were so named because of the double-edged nature of SALT: it both preserves food stores and increases the displeasure of those whose wounds are brought into contact with it. SALT is a necessary ingredient for basic survival of all living, warmblooded species (and probably some non-mammalian creatures as well); it contains iodine (a trace element humans could not survive without); without SALT our body temperature would escalate beyond our ability to survive for without it the "simple" sweating from body movements we would have no viable cooling effect........ just go to the encyclopedia and find a cache of many more attributes to how SALT affects the entire world..in socio-economics, in health, in politics (even in wars).
