I am a "Regular" as well and from my research the original Regulars had Iberian (Portuguese/Spanish) origins. However, there are individuals that have the Regular last name because it was changed to that when their ancestors came to the US. Some of the names that could have changed to Regular are Riglar, Regler, etc. Most Regulars today probably have multiple origins and don't descend from the Regulars that were from the Iberian (Portugal/Spanish) peninsula.
