Usually they would first find a purpose or need for the ship to be built. Then draw out the basic look of the ship. After that, they would cut trees of various sizes and cut them into the shapes need to make the ship. the strongest and largest logs would be cut into spine pieces and interlocked. then rib pieces would be attached and bolted on to the spine. The exterior wood planking would then be bolted on in between each spine to create a water tight hull. Then the floor planks would be attached in between the large beams that connect horizontal across each rib. A gold coin would be dropped into each of the mast's bases, and the masts would then be dropped into place and secured. The ballast usually consisted of rock and gravel in barrels or would be poured into the bottom and sealed. Then the boat would be slid into the water and cosmetic things like figureheads and balconies would be Crafted from the remaining wood. Lastly they would prepare the rigging and sails and morn the ship at a harbour ready for use.
