I live and work as a Director of Studies in China and I have to say the system is quite diverse. There are many state-run schools, private schools and international schools and none follow a particular set of rules. Many state run schools are overcrowded with more than 40 students in a class. But that is not to say that these schools are bad, I have visited some massively crowded schools that are practically falling down around the students ears. And yet the children receive a very high standard of education. Conversely there are a number of well-polished international and private schools that look great but the children are nothing more than figures in the monthly budget and are taught to parrot their teacher. This seemingly gives a good standard of education but when asked to think outside the framework of the lessons or what they have been taught, they are utterly incapable of response. Teachers vary in quality, just like anywhere in the world: some are heavy handed bullies who have no business teaching but remain nonetheless, others are caring and well-educated and genuinely interested in the welfare of the children.

The educational system in China is very similar to the United Kingdom. They are divided into preschool, primary school, secondary school, high school, university and college.
They learn what we learn in high school when they are in middle school or grade school.

No, China does not have a caste system like in India. China historically had a feudal system with a hierarchy based on social class, but that system was largely dismantled during the Communist revolution in the mid-20th century. Today, social status in China is based more on wealth, education, and political connections rather than on a rigid caste system.
Children mainly travel to schools by foot, by bike and by bus. Most schools in China don't have school bus to pick up the children.
The educational system in is good if you're in a private school. But if you're in a public school, the educational system might be pretty poorly.
