It is widely argued the effect of Gandhi. Originally, it was political, having made effective and apparent the influence and ability of non-violent protest. In the annals of history, though, Gandhi's effect will most likely be on the spiritual side. Many have said he is similar to those other founders of religions like Christ, Buddha, and Mohammed, that have come before. The benefit of Gandhi, though, is that he lived in our time, in recorded history, not the recorded history of oral retellings of stories but actual recorded history, in print and on video. Gandhi claimed that Truth is God, preferring to call God "Truth" instead of "God" because to label God is a fallacy as it claims that human beings can, in their severely limited grasp of the supernatural, begin to define God.
